Security & privacy

You're trusting us with your family's meals, stress levels, and health details. Here's exactly how your household's data stays private — and what this app is designed for.

🏠

Household-level isolation

Every account belongs to exactly one household. Food, stress, workout, and health data is scoped to that household — no other account can read or write it.

🔑

Your password, protected

Passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text, and never visible to our team.

👪

You control the household

Only the household lead can add or remove family members. Kids don't need their own login — you log on their behalf, and only your household can see their data.

🚪

You can leave any time

Delete your account and your data from your profile settings whenever you want.

This app is not HIPAA-compliant

BiteTab is a personal and family wellness tracker — it is not a covered entity or business associate under HIPAA, and it is not designed, certified, or intended to store protected health information (PHI) such as medical record numbers, insurance IDs, diagnoses codes, or information from a covered healthcare provider.

Use it to track everyday things like meals, stress levels, workouts, blood pressure, weight, and personal notes about how you're feeling — not as a substitute for your medical record or a HIPAA-regulated system. If you have a serious medical condition, always talk to a qualified healthcare provider.

Questions we get a lot

No. Every household is its own isolated tenant. Family Hub, the dashboard, and every tracking page all scope queries to your household's ID — access to a household you don't belong to is rejected outright.
Only the household owner (the account that completed onboarding) can add, edit, or remove family members from the Family page.
Avoid medical record numbers, insurance/policy numbers, diagnosis codes, or anything from a formal medical record. Stick to personal tracking: what you ate, how stressed you felt, your workouts, and general vitals like blood pressure or weight.
Yes — you can delete your account and its data at any time from your profile settings.
